Abagail Brown

Surviving isn't easy. Often the abuse starts before infancy awareness, leaving survivors to know no other life. A few escape. Read their tales to recognize those you know who may need a nudge to recognize the abuse they suffer from in their daily lives. To prevent maintaining and continuing the vicious cycle.

Listen to your heart, if you think you are a survivor of abuse.

We know your danger, we know your fear. It's very real.

Honesty isn't what those who've never lived it, want to believe.

Abusers will not leave you alone because you ask them to, they will search for you. Laws cannot protect you. If they could, the abuser never would have abused you to begin with. The abuser isn't afraid of the law.

Abusers come in all shapes and sizes.

Those we've know all our lives, who manipulate us.

Those we've only met, who shut us down cruelly.

Abusers think "no" means maybe, then yes in a few minutes.

They can be males, adults, or children.

Anyone who doesn't listen when we say no.

Anyone who doesn't respect our rights to our own bodies, and minds.

Anyone who insists you go back to your abuser is a more dangerous abuser.

You may have to give up everything, and everyone you know, and care for.

You can do it.

"The New Underground Railroad" will come into being and protect women, children, pets, and yes, the occasional man, from the retaliations of their former abusers.

Someday, those who need to escape from abuse, with or without children, can legally do so

Listen to your heart, if you think you are a survivor of abuse.

We know your danger, we know your fear. It's very real.

Escape to somewhere safe, and live a healthy life.

No sir! No means No!
No sir! It don't mean maybe!
No sir! It don't mean yes!
No sir! I won't have your baby!

Abagail Brown has lived, and continues to live, with the subject matter in her fiction and non-fiction. An abusive past, causing multiple disabilities she knows about from the inside out. With the aid of cats, dogs, and art, she reaches out to help others stumble less along the path to a future for all, regardless of their past, present, or future.

Recognizing abuse, and escaping, isn't easy.

Cracks in the Walls Book Cover. Purple wall with cracks.

Anne has been conditioned to believe abuse is normal. Trained to believe fear, hiding, and secrets are routine for everyone.

Laws prevent mothers with children from escaping, unless they abandon their children to the abuser, to keep another generation under the thumb of abuse.

Jo and Lennie won't give up trying to find Anne. To rescue her. To bring her to safety with Ruby's Law, inadequate as it is. In legal limbo land, safe from her abuser, surrounded by other survivors.

Few make it out to live beyond the bars.

It simply isn't safe.

Abusers wait out there.

Often barely beyond the fence.
