Hanging Toilet Paper Holder

Machine washable.

Two toilet paper pockets.

Three back pockets for washcloths, and other light weight small items.

Materials Needed:

Three contrasting materials.

(1/3 yard for the first two materials,

a 2 inch by 24 inch strip for the button loops.)

Six Buttons

(Shank style, with a roll opening on the back work best.)

1. Cut the long piece as a double thickness.

12 inches wide by 22 inches high.

The upper five sided figure may need to be longer depending on how big around the towel holder you are hanging it on is. Measure first. This pattern fits the average 2 inch around towel rod.

2. Cut the upper five sided figure in the second contrasting color.

12 inches wide at the base, narrow to 10 inches by 8 inches high.

A roll of toilet paper is 16 inches around, 4.5 inches high, with a diameter of 5.25 inches. However, some vary in size.

3. Cut the 2 Roll holders in the contrasting color.

12 inches wide at the base, narrow to 10 inches by 22 inches high.

4. Cut six button loops of the third contrasting color, about 2 inches wide by four inches high.

Sew, tie, trim, and tack them into place.

5. Turn and sew the edges of the long piece.

6. Turn and sew the edges of the two row holders.

Be sure and add the two button loops on the top side.

The top side can be angled like a triangle, reducing the width by about 2 inches on each side.

7. Sew the row holders to the long backing, about halfway up where the roll should sit.

This will create three pockets in the back section of the toilet paper holder.

8. For the upper five sided figure:

Leave the bottom open.

Attach button loops inside the top.

9. Turn, pin, and sew the five sided figure to the top, closing the open section.

10. Mark button locations with chalk.

Attach Buttons.

Be sure the button attaching only goes through the first layer. The best buttons are the ones that have a single part at the back to got through. Sew through at least seven times.

The back pockets can be used for rollable toilet seat covers, washcloths, or other light items.

Optional: Make you own paper toilet paper roll. This can be used to test your measurements. Take an empty cardboard toilet paper roll. Cut the top and bottom diameter. Tape to top and bottom of the roll. Then cut the long piece and wrap it around, taping it in one or two spots. Makes a great cat toy once the sewing project is done!
