The sock bat is a fun Halloween project. Other animals can be made as well. Older, worn out socks can have new life.
Materials:
3 Pairs of Socks (1 Black and fuzzy)
3 Foot of Yellow Yarn
3 Buttons (Two Orange)
Black Thread
Step 1:
A. Cut the yellow yarn into 3 pieces, each one foot long.
B. Tie one end.
C. Braid the three pieces of yarn.
D. Tie the other end.
Step 2:
A. Roll one used sock pair into the bottom of one black and fuzzy sock.
B. Roll one used sock pair into the bottom of one black and fuzzy sock.
C. Using black thread, close the opening on the black and fuzzy sock.
D. Pull up a corner and with a few stitches make an ear.
E. Pull up the second corner and with a few stitches make an ear.
Step 3:
A. Tie the yellow braid loosely around the neck.
B. Use the black thread, or a yellow thread, to tack the braid onto the bat with one or two stitches.
Step 4:
A. Sew the orange eyes onto the face.
B. Sew the pink nose onto the face.
Step 5:
A. With black thread, attach the second black fully sock to the back of the bat. Using a "U" shape will make the wings stretch out.
It is also possible to use pipe cleaners to help maintain the wing shapes.
